In order to make our handles comfortable and dishwasher safe, a material called Santoprene is used. Santoprene is a processed rubber with a soft velvety feel that doesn't break down when exposed to kitchen oils. It is dishwasher safe and non-latex. The material works particularly well for the flexible "fins" on our GOOD GRIPS handles. The Santoprene material's flexibility allows the fins to bend under pressure and conform to individual finger grips for comfort and control, and since Santoprene is non-slip, that control is maintained even when the handle or hands are wet.
